This website is a collection of resources that support building resilient households, community organizations, and local government. The social connectedness between all of these parts of our communities determines or shared ability to prepare for, cope with, and adapt to the impact of emergencies. The foundation of the resources is based on the research of S. Atyia Martin, the creator of this website. She has conducted qualitative and quantitative analyses in the area of social vulnerability and resilience in American cities to develop the Social Determinants of Vulnerability Framework. She has applied The Framework to the City of Boston. As part of this research, she also conducted citywide hot spot analyses for social factors indicated in reducing resilience.
